Tiny Courtyard Garden

St Ives

As a second home the owner required this small plot to be very low maintenance whilst having a strong structure with two seating areas and interest all year round.  She particularly wanted it to have a "Cornish feel".

The solution was a linear design with simple contemporary materials.  Two small seating areas, one for sun loungers and the other for evening sun are joined with patterns of paving and cobble-edged planting areas.  Succulents and exotic palms and restios were used as specimen plants for year round structure and foliage interest with creeping flowering plants for gentle colour in summer and autumn.  The whole area is mulched with a soft coloured gravel with placed driftwood, boulders and a mix of objets trouves throughout.

Cathy really understood what we wanted from our small outside space and created a simply delightful garden. There are little surprises each season, we love it.
